Topic: Twin Cities Choruses
Comments: Upper Mid-West Twin Cities Choruses:
I will be moving from Kenosha to Minnetonka sometime this spring -- probably mid-May. I would appreciate any information on a male chorus looking for a director. I would like to stay with an AMCA chorus, but would consider others. I would also be willing to be a substitute director if a chorus needs one.
Also, I would like to know if there are any openings for a senior choir director in an ELCA Lutheran Church. I have directed in other denominations, but would prefer ELCA. My experience has also been in the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church (and two high schools), the Episcopal Church, and the Methodist Church. Also -- I might be dreaming -- but it would be nice to be close to Minnetonka as I find the Minneapolis drivers to be absolutely wild! (I would rather drive in downtown Chicago!)
I don't like losing my ties to AMCA, so if you know of any opening for a director I would greatly apreciate being able to audition. And remember to keep singing and give yourself a brighter day.

Comments: I was just doing some surfing and found your page. I am the founder and president of the Washington Men's Camerata - a 70 voice men's chorus directed by former Chanticleer Assoc. Director Frank Albinder. Frank is also Director of the University of Virginia Men's Glee Club and is active in both ACDA and IMC. Please check us out at www.camerata.com. We have built a very fine ensemble that we are very proud of. We also are the repository for many many collections of men's choral music that are no longer in use - including the former men's choral collections of Yale, Georgetown, Princeton, Lafayette, Davidson and many many other Universities and institions. This music is available for loan (see www.camerata.com). We at the Camerata are very involved in the Intercollegiate Men's Choruses and are no sure in what respects your organization is similar or different. However - we are dedicated to enhancing the quality of men's choral singing everywhere, encouraging more performances and recordings of repertoire for men's choruses and encouraging the classical music world and others to utilize the services of the nation's best men's choruses.

Comments:
To the best of my knowledge, Choralyre does not have a web site;
however, they do have an e-mail address, and will be glad to deal
with anyone wanting to buy their music folders. I purchased some for the Winnipeg Male Chorus last year this way.

Topic: Music Sources/Resources
Comments: For mail order music, I would suggest to check our Music Resources Page on the AMCA Web site. My favorite place to mail order music (directly from your web browser) is J.W.Pepper. I have also had good success with Sheetmusic Plus (and AMCA gets financial support from any purchases you make here by clicking through to their site from the AMCA pages).

Comments: We are currently looking for Choirs visiting the UK, who wish to perform concerts (especially if you are in the UK during June/July, but anytime also.)
We have, in the past two years hosted the 'World Champions' - The Northridge Singers from California University, and also the Male Choir of Tucson, Arizona.
Superb Acoustics, 400+ audience, and wonderful company and freindship in sharing a concert with the Wessex Male Choir.
If you could publicsise this on your site, I would be grateful.

Yous in music.

Topic: Staying in contact after retirement
Comments: I used to sing with the Eau Claire male chorus in Wisconsin. When I retired in 1998 I went to Mission Tx. There is no AMCof A chorus here. There is however and group called the Senior Ambassadors, singing male chorus music. It replaces my singing need but not my contact with the old group in Eau Claire. This is a group of men from all over the Rio Grande Valley that used to sing in either male choruses or barbershop. They need help in getting good music to sing. Most of the things we are singing is VERY OLD. Is there someway to get shared music from you? I do get up to Eau Claire in the summer but usually do not get to see more than two or three of the members. Thanks for having the webpage.

Topic: Canadian Choral Composer
Comments: Hello,
I am a Canadian composer with many choral works in my catalogue, including some arrangements of Christmas music for Mens' Chorus. For the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation Television production, "Christmas on the Prairies", filmed at Fort Edmonton in 1980, I was asked to arrange "The March of the 3 Kings" and "Les Anges dans nos Campagnes (Angels We have Heard on High)" for mens' voices. The results can be heard on my website - www.members.shaw.ca/rhannah1. Click on "Choral Works" to the right of my picture on the homepage. If you are interested in performing either of them, please let me know. I will be pleased to send the music via mail or email for perusal.

Comments: David, If you go to the Officers Page and click on the "About (person's name)" you will get an idea of what other officers have submitted. You can use those "bios" as an example and write your "bio" with your own "personality" (and, of course, your own information). ;>)
