Topic: Sha-Sha Opens In Style!!!
Comments: Sha Sha opened in style. The music was great, as we danced to the music by the band members who performed for us in high school. The lodge and all the outside decks were packed with smiling Alumni and guests. Everyone enjoyed watching the full moon (the Blue Moon) shine down and it's light glisten across Rainy Lake. This event was so enjoyed by all that Stuart asked the band if they will come back the weekend before July 4th every summer.
All of the class gatherings around the Falls had a tremendous turnout, and everyone reported having the time of their lives.

Topic: ACR Parade Big Success!!!
Comments: A well deserved First place honor and $1,500 went to the Class of 1970. Their float in the parade was a little red school house, artistically decorated and full of class clowns. As the float passed classmates in the crowd, the bell in the tower rang and the class clowns inside squirted the person with cold water. I'm not their classmate but I too was their target, which drew laughter from the crowd and the clowns in the school house. The Class of 1970 sign read: FHS Class of 1970 celebrates Class Clowns, and every class has them.
Second place and $1,000 went to the Class of 1957, who were celebrating their 50th class reunion. Their class had the most classmates attending, and by far the most ACR involvement with several gathering planned each day. Their class had several entries in the parade, but the largest being classmate Norman Boyum's truck carrying most of the class. Classmates held up signs naming the state they now live in.
Third place and $500 went to the Class of 1940 and Robert Shaw with his Pig's Eye Jazz Band. Robert was being pushed in a wheel chair by a nurse, in his hospital gown with intervenes in his arm, but he still had enough school spirit to play the school sportsmanship song with his slide trombone. The serious man in black walking solemnly beside him looked more like an undertaker than a doctor. Mr. Shaw is always a crowd favorite.

Topic: Class Ring Found??
Comments:    It's 1:15 a.m. and I'm so tired I can't think straight. I had to submit this to our local newspaper to get it in the ACR round up addition.
Shirley Mishow (blue shirt) found a FHS class ring from the class of 1991 around 8-10 years ago. It had the initials TMM engraved inside it. She is trying to find the owner and return the ring. She lives down in or by the Twin Cities.
She called me to see if I could help her locate the owner. I turned to the new 2007 Alumni Directory which we had printed for the All Class Reunion and reviewed the class of 1991 looking for a girl with those initials. I found two, Tina (Milette) Kelly who lives in the Falls, and Toni Morrison. I called Tina and explained the story and asked her what her middle name was. When she said "Marie", I thought we found the owner. Shirley, Tina, her family and I all met at Smokey the Bear in International Falls to see if the ring fit. The initials were right and she had lost her ring many years ago. Tina's husband, children, mother-in-law, Shirely and I all watched as Tina slipped the long lost ring onto her finger. To our surprise it was too big. This doesn't necessarily mean it's not hers as she loves rings and wares them on several fingers. Being their was the element of doubt, we all agreed Toni Morrison should be called to see what her middle name is and find out if the ring could possible be hers. We all went across the street to the gas station and I used the phone book to call Carol Morrison, Toni's mother. I said if her middle name is Ann or something, we'll know the ring is Tina's. I explained the story to Carol and asked, What's Toni's middle name? Carol replied, "Marie, and she lost her class ring about 10 years ago while going to school at St. Cloud Technical College." I think Carol even said the year her daughter lost the ring. With that information, Shirley surprisingly said her husband worked at St. Cloud Technical College at that time and still does. She then wondered if he had found it on the college grounds. She couldn't be sure where they found it, it's been so long ago. Shirley recently moved, and ran across the ring while going threw her things.
We couldn't believe it. We now have two 1991 classmates with the exact same three initials, and they both lost their class rings a long time ago. Toni thinks the ring she lost was a size 8 or 81/2 so tomorrow Shirley will take it to Borderland Jewelry to see what size it is. And so the mystery continues..... who's ring is it? This will hopefully be resolved this week.
Follow up: We had the ring sized and it was an 8 1/2. I will give it to Toni Morrison the next time she comes home to the Falls. I'm guarding it with my life. The ring is beautiful..... it looks like it has never been worn. Toni is the daughter of Carol Morrison the former alumni address keeper and label maker.

Daily Journal ACR Preview Edition
The people "in town" were treated to a special edition of the Daily Journal (3 - 12 page sections) that was a PREVIEW of the ACR 2007. The DJ has made this available in PDF form on their web site now and you can get it there. Go to the Daily Journal and look for the window like the one at the right and click the links to download the edition (I found it on the "ACR Draws Many" Article page -- see links in the LEFT LOCATER COLUMN)

It that window disappears before you get to it (or if you cannot find it) below are the direct links to download from the Daily Journal (they work right now but things may change).
Section A, Section B, Section C

(I have downloaded these files and have made them available on this site with your username and password if you prefer that method.)
Section A, Section B, Section C

This is a wonderul service of the Daily Journal and well worth your download time and reading time if you have and interest in FHS and could not make the ACR 2007.
