(1971) Danny James Ysen, age 54, formerly of International Falls, Minn., died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, at his home in St. Paul, Minn. He was born March 12, 1953, at Bagley Memorial Hospital, Bagley, Minn. In his high school years, he was a defenseman for the International Falls Broncos and a pitcher for the Bronco baseball team. Danny graduated in the Class of 1971 and later attended Ames Iowa State University.
(1926) Agnes King McIntyre, 99, of International Falls, Minn., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007, at the Ranier Roost. Agnes was born July 20, 1908, in Hayward, Wis. She moved to International Falls as a young girl and was a member of the first girlÕs high school basketball team. She graduated from Falls High School in 1926. Agnes worked as a secretary for the Mando Paper Company, Bloomholm attorney and for Keyes Business Exchange.
(1943) Leola Mae Krueger, 82, of International Falls, Minn., passed away Aug. 2, 2007, at Falls Good Samaritan Center. Leola was born in International Falls on Oct. 23, 1924, to Leo and Luella Prevost. She graduated from Falls High School in 1943. Leola was united in marriage to Earl Krueger on June 17, 1944.
(1965) Nancy Scheela Scott, 60, passed away July 18, 2007 in Sun City, Ariz. She was born March 21, 1947, in Littlefork, Minn. to Robert and Evelyn Boe Scheela. Nancy graduated from Falls High School in 1965. She moved to Phoenix, Ariz. in 1970, where she began a career in advertising, later owning her own media agency, specializing in radio and television. She married Lawrence (Larry) Scott on May 26, 1985.
(1960) Tammy Faye Messner, 65, who as Tammy Faye Bakker helped her husband, Jim, build a multimillion-dollar evangelism empire and then saw it collapse in disgrace, dued on Friday Jul 20, 2007. Tammy Faye Messner, born Tammy Faye LaValley in International Falls, died at age 65 after a battle with colon cancer that started in 1996 and more recently spread to her lungs. A family service was held Saturday in a private cemetery, where her ashes were interred, he said.
(1977) Margaret Jean Gouin, age 49, passed away at St. MaryÕs Medical Center, Duluth, Minn., Saturday, July 14, 2007 after a short illness. Margaret was born Oct. 29, 1957, at International Falls, Minn., the daughter of Joseph Andre and Rose Marie Gouin. She attended St. Thomas School and graduated in 1977 from Falls High School. She was a longtime resident at Lakeview Homes in Virginia, Minn., where she resided and had many friends.
(1956) Dennis Leonard Solo, 69, of Gillette, Wyo., died Thursday, July 5, at his home in Rozet, Wyo., of natural causes. He was born Sept. 7, 1937, the son of Halvdan and Selma (Boquist) Solo in Manitou, Minn. He was raised and educated in International Falls and graduated from high school in 1956. After graduation Dennis worked from 1956 to 1977 for Paul Lawrence Construction Company in Minnesota. Dennis was united in marriage Jan. 9, 1958, to Carole (Kucera) in International Falls.
(1953) Shirley Ann (Ryan) Auran, age 71, of St. Paul, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on July 1, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband, David B. Auran, M.D., and brother, Robert OÕLeary.
(1973) Mary Lou Larsen, 42, was born Jan. 7, 1955, entered to rest April 26, 2007. She was preceded in death by her father, Verne J. Larsen and sister, Jeri OÕLeary.
(1942) Beverly MaryAnn (Murray) Movold, 83, will be buried with her husband on Friday, July 13, at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. She was born March 1, 1924 in Brainerd, Minn., the daughter of Folsom and Myrtle (Ryden) Murray. Beverly graduated from International Falls in 1942.
(1953) (Dick) Dier had hockey in the blood. (DIER, RICHARD (1953) deceased) Some may say they were born with ice in their veins, but the love the Dier family share for hockey and their father will melt your heart. The Dier clan credit its patriarch, Dick, with the achievements they have made as well as their love for the game. Dick Dier, also known to his friends as "Hawk" was born in Fort Frances, Ontario on June 24, 1935. And, when his parents Preston and Cecile Dier moved to International Falls in 1949 Dick jumped right into the athletic programs at Falls High School.
(1944) Eddie Gordon Hickey, (81), born May 24, 1926, in International Falls, Minn., died June 25, 2007, after an extended illness. During World War II he served aboard the USS Lackawanna. He married Jeanette Carrier in 1947 and moved to Tacoma, Wash. After joining the fire department in 1954 as a firefighter, he rose to become the deputy fire chief of Tacoma. He retired in 1979 after 25 years of service. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, skier and traveler. Despite his interests, his family was always his primary focus.
(1936) Jeanne Catherine (Prettyman) Riley, 89, passed away early Wednesday morning, June 27, 2007, at Falls Memorial Hospital. Jeanne was born March 30, 1918, in Wadena, Minn. She moved to International Falls as a youngster and had lived here ever since. She worked in the family restaurant named RileyÕs Grill and then in 1955 started working in the family sporting goods store, RileyÕs Sporting Goods.
(1958) Janice Marie Mannausau, 67, passed away early Friday, June 22, 2007, at Falls Memorial Hospital surround by her family. Born Aug. 29, 1939, in Ashland, Wis., to Sidney and Lillian (Wilcox) Friedbauer, she moved to International Falls as a toddler and had lived in Jameson Addition since. She graduated from Falls High School in 1958 and was united in marriage to Mervin Mannausau in 1960.
(1977) Daniel Edward Walls, age 48, of International Falls, Minn., died Sunday, June 17, 2007, at Falls Memorial Hospital. He was born Dec. 5, 1958 at International Falls. Danny was a lifelong resident of International Falls and graduated from Falls High School in 1977. He later attended Rainy River Community College.
(1966) Richard Leon Coulombe, 60, was born Dec. 8, 1946, at Littlefork, Minn., to Emmanuel and Alta Coulombe. He passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2007, in International Falls, Minn. Richard graduated from Falls High School in 1966. He served in the United States Army from October 1966 to October 1968. He also graduated from St. Cloud Technical Institute with an associate of arts degree in gas and diesel mechanics.
(1939?) Norma Katherine Trott, (86 years), International Falls, Minn., died Tuesday morning, June 19, 2007, at Falls Good Samaritan Center. Norma was born June 7, 1921, in International Falls. She and Ross moved to Hammond, Ind., in 1971. In 1982 they moved back to the Falls where she stayed for the remainder of her life. Formerly Norma K. Monrean, she was united in marriage to Ross Trott August 10, 1941.
(1969) Michael Kent Budak, age 56, of International Falls, Minn., died Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at his home. He was born Nov. 28, 1950, at Waterloo, Iowa, to Samuel and Gertrude ÒSallyÓ Budak. Michael moved with his mother to the Kabetogama Lake area in the early 1960s; he graduated from Falls High School in 1969. He later attended school at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, and graduated from the University of New Mexico-Albuquerque with a degree in archeology studies.
(1937) Lorraine Hettie (Ballard) Decker, 88, passed away May 29, 2007. She was born March 1, 1919, in International Falls, Minn., to John Hamilton Ballard and Abbie (Messerschmidt) Ballard. She graduated from Falls High School in 1937 and received a nursing diploma from Sacred Heart Hospital, Havre, Mont. Lorraine worked many years as a registered nurse in Montana, California, and Washington states. The family moved to Spokane, Wash., in 1965 and she lived there till moving to Everett, Wash., in 2002.
(1950) Julia "Bitsy" Doris Johnson, International Falls, died Thursday, June 7, 2007, at her daughter, Lisa, and familyÕs home in White Bear Lake.
(1968) Phyllis Ann Carlson Quirk, 57, of South Haven, died suddenly in International Falls, Minn., Saturday, June 2, 2007.
Phyllis was born Oct. 12, 1949, to John and Genevieve (Dircks) Skalsky in International Falls. She was a graduate of Falls High School Class of 1968.
(1960?) Gary Vance "Jake" McDougall, 65, of International Falls died Monday, June 4, 2007 at Falls Memorial Hospital. Jake was born July 13, 1942 in International Falls. He grew up in the Falls and attended the Falls High School. Following school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. and was honorably discharged. On July 11, 1964 he was united in marriage to Carolyn Edberg.
(1956) Ronald Lyle Erickson, 68, of International Falls, Minn., died Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at Falls Memorial Hospital, International Falls. Ronald was born Sept. 14, 1938, in Littlefork, Minn., the son of Victor and Vianna (Maki) Erickson. He attended school in Ray until the eighth grade, and graduated from Falls High School in 1956. He served in the United States Army for two years.
(1960) Eugene "Gene" Ralph Larson, age 65, of Littlefork, Minnesota died of cancer on Sunday, May 6, 2007 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 15, 1941 at Warroad, MN to Ralph and Bernice Larson. The Larson Family moved to Int'l Falls in 1951 where Gene graduated from Falls High School.
(1939) Phillip Arthur Alstrom, age 85, of International Falls, Minn., died Monday, April 23, 2007, at his home. He was born July 3, 1921, at Belmont Township, North Dakota. He graduated from Falls High School in 1939; he lettered in football and basketball. He later attended the Wahpeton State School of Science.
(1977) Bradley Maynard Langton, 48, of International Falls, Minn., died Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at Falls Memorial Hospital. Bradley was 48 years of age. Born April 11, 1959, in Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada, Bradley grew up in the Falls and graduated from Falls High School, Class of 1977. He went on to attend Rainy River Community College and later moved to Grand Forks, N.D., and graduated from the University of North Dakota. He moved to Somerset, Wis., in 1998.
(1956) Phillip Lowey, age 69, died after a lengthy illness on April 22, 2007, in San Diego, Calif. He was born Sept. 13, 1937, to Bruce and Jeanne Lowey. Phil graduated from Falls High School in 1956 and worked for IBM in California for many years. His parents, Bruce and Jeanne Lowey, preceded him in death.
(1950) Mary (Johnson) Clinton, 75 --- G. Mary Clinton (nee Genevieve Marie Johnson), a former International Falls, Minn., resident, died in her Washington, D.C. residence after a six-year fight with Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC) on April 17, 2007, her 75th birthday.
(1956) Karen G. (Anderson) Ecklund, 69, of International Falls, went to be with her Lord April 13, 2007, surrounded by her family. She was born at the family home Jan. 25, 1938, to Ray and Olga Anderson. Karen was united in marriage to Burnie Ecklund June 22, 1957, and to this union four children were born. Karen was a faithful member and servant of the Berean Baptist Church of International Falls.
(1961) All class quilt - After attending an organizational meeting for the Falls High School All Class Reunion last fall, Pam (Titus) Hanson, class of 1961, asked herself how she could personally contribute to the funding of the enormous event. What she contributed, and crafted, can be seen at the International Mall displayed in the window of Farm Bureau Insurance ... The quilt will be on display at Diane;s Quilt Shop on main street in the Falls for the month of May and at the Falls Public Library for the month of June ... Raffle tickets will soon go on sale at $3 each ... All proceeds from raffle sales will go to the All Class Reunion fund.
(1950) Joyce Elaine (Simons) George, 74, went home to be with her Lord and Savior and won her six-year battle over cancer, receiving her ultimate healing on Saturday, March 24, 2007. Services were held at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, Albert Lea, on Tuesday, March 27. Joyce Elaine George was born on May 11, 1932, in Chisholm, Minn., the daughter of Andrew and Siami (Johnson) Simons.
(1948) Dolores "Dolly" Daniel Williamson, 76, passed away Feb. 16, 2007. She was born Oct. 28, 1930, in Gilbert, Minn., to Jake and Leah Daniel. The Daniels moved to International Falls in 1934 and opened up the Golden Rule department store. Dolly graduated in 1948 and worked at The Daily Journal that summer as a reporter. She attended the University of Minnesota, graduated in 1952, and then moved to Europe. She eventually moved to London, England, where she lived for the last 50 years.
(1940) Clarence Theodore Aasen, 85, of Bemidji, passed into the next life on March 18, 2007, at Havenwood Care Center, Bemidji. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at Cease Family Funeral Home, Bemidji. Clarence was the third son born to Andrew and Clara (Swenson) Aasen on March 14, 1922, in International Falls, Minn. He graduated from Falls High School in 1940 after an active career in chorus, orchestra, band, theater and speech.
(1931) Mary Catherine Louiseau, age 94, formerly of Int'l Falls, MN died at Perham Memorial Nursing Home on Monday, March 12, 2007. Born January 3, 1913 in International Falls, Minnesota. Long-time resident of International Falls. Mary graduated from Falls High School with the class of 1931 and later she graduated from the Duluth Business College.
(1934) Ann (Carriveau) Laidlaw, age 89, of International Falls, Minn., passed away Friday, March 9, 2007, at Falls Memorial Hospital. She was born Jan. 11, 1918, at International Falls. Ann was a lifelong resident of the International Falls and Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada area.
(1968) Charles Duane Nazarenus, 56, formerly of International Falls, MN, died Thursday, March 1, 2007, at St. Cloud V.A. Medical Center after years of declining health. Charles was born April 1, 1950, to Orlando and Marilyn (Brethorst) Nazarenus.
(1939) Charles G. Anderson, 86, of International Falls, Minnesota died Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at the St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth, Minnesota. Charles was born August 11, 1920 in International Falls & graduated from Falls High School.
(1966) Gerald J. "Jerry" Smuda, 58, of International Falls, Minnesota died Friday, February 16, 2007 at the University Of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Jerry was 58 years of age.
(1940) Marlo Peter Coran, 85, of International Falls died Monday, February 19, 2007 at the Falls Memorial Hospital.
(1970) Timothy Richard Ruelle, 55, Duluth, MN, died Jan. 31, 2007, at Duluth, following a lengthy illness. He was born Nov. 5, 1951, at International Falls, MN. After graduating from Falls High School in 1970, he enlisted in the United States Army.
(1972) David Eugene Hanson, age 53, of International Falls, MN died on Friday, February 9, 2007 at the Littlefork Care Center. He was born on March 10, 1953 at International Falls. He was a lifelong resident of Int'l Falls and graduating from Falls High School in 1972.
(1942) Robert E. Scheela, 83, passed away Jan. 31, 2007, in Scottsdale, Ariz. Born Dec. 31, 1923, in the Falls, he graduated in 1942. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Boe Scheela.
(1955) Karen Elizabeth Moxness, 70, Rochester, Minn., died Jan. 27, 2007, at Madonna Towers Nursing Care at the age of 70 following a year-long battle with cancer. She was born Oct. 28, 1936, at Littlefork, Minn.
(1940) Robert Marshall Knudson, 89,of International Falls, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, at Falls Good Samaritan Center. He was born Oct. 8, 1917, at Augusta, Wis. Robert was a lifelong resident of International Falls; he graduated from Falls High School and later Dunwoody Machinist.
(1936) Clara B. Lindeman went to be with the Lord Dec. 18, 2006, at the age of 88. She was born at Ericsburg, MN, Aug. 16, 1918.
(1964) Gary L. Tornes left his home town of International Falls, Minnesota for Marine Corps boot camp on Christmas Day, 1965. He has authored a book Apprentices of War: Memoir of a Marine Grunt
(1946) Andrew Zurkowski ... A great gift to the community ... this week made what must be one of the most important contributions to our community. Zurkowski, valedictorian of the International Falls High School graduating class of 1946, gave the International Falls Public Library $300,000.
(1972) Gary Stephen Steinbach, 54, of International Falls, Minn., died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at Falls Memorial Hospital, International Falls.
(1953) William (Bill) Dean McBride, 72, of International Falls, MN, died Saturday, Jan, 13, 2007, at his home.
(1958) Virginia M. (Gerlach) Bolstad, 67, a lifelong resident of International Falls, MN, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, at Falls Memorial Hospital.
(1937) Florence Katherine (Klow) Ficke, 87, of International Falls, Minn., died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, at 10:40 p.m. at Methodist Hospital, Minneapolis, Minn., where she died of cancer surrounded by her loving family.
(1959) Frances 'Fran' Marion Lassila, age 65, of International Falls, passed away Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer.
(1936) John 'Pushkin' Sontorovich, 89, of International Falls, Minn., died Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth.
(1947) Victoria Clausen Johnson, 77, beloved wife of Daryl Johnson, was welcomed into the loving arms of God on Dec. 27, 2006. She was born Victoria Ella Clauson on Sept. 1, 1929, to Earl and Ethel Clauson in International Falls, Minn.
(1966) Dennis Allen Long, age 59, of International Falls, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, at Falls Memorial Hospital.
(1941) Byron W. "Barney" Jensen, age 84, of International Falls, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006, at Falls Memorial Hospital.
(1953) Donald L. "Don" Frank, 71, went to walk with God on Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis and congestive heart failure.
